Ethics

• GDS is aware to contribute with its work and with sense of responsibility and moral integrity to the development process of the area where it operates.
   
• GDS believes in the value of work and considers fairness and transparency as unavoidable conditions for the attainment of its economic, productive and social goals.
   
• For these reasons GDS decided to draw up an ethical code based on the principles expressed in the document called “Corporate Policy”. This document defines the corporate mission, the values shared by the shareholding structure and the management policies followed in respect of the social responsibility requirements imposed by SA8000:2001 and incorporated in the integrated management system.
   
• In the recent history of GDS we can find the precise reasons for its business model and its revival, founded on a well-defined agreement with the community. In 1995 the company, which was in the hands of non-local entrepreneurs, was about to close down leaving more than 100 families without a job. Workers occupied the factory for more than 50 days keeping the production running. In December of the same year, thanks to the intervention of some local political and religious institutions and of the Colaiacovo family’s Group, the company launched its revival plan thanks to which today Sirci in one of the most innovative realities of the sector.
